TCE Fund’s mission is to engage people and communities through face-to-face public education, grassroots organizing and action-oriented research for a cleaner and healthier Texas. TCE is the state’s leading canvass-based environmental advocacy group, directly influencing public policy through community-based lobbying. Both organizations lead local, statewide and national issue campaigns to fight pollution, especially fossil fuel facilities that harm communities and worsen climate pollution. TCE Fund and TCE promote clean economy solutions such as Zero Waste and renewable energy.

Position Summary
The Digital Director is responsible for managing our digital program and strategy, coordinating online engagement activities to amplify our narrative, broaden our base, inspire people to get more involved, and drive fundraising.

After undertaking a year-long strategic assessment and organizational restructuring, Texas Campaign for the Environment Fund (TCE Fund) is shifting its focus to long term base-building of people and connecting with new audiences via digital platforms in order to build power and accelerate action on climate change.

TCE Fund is seeking a person to join our team to guide our efforts in connecting digital advocacy with on-the-ground organizing. This is a key position that will help launch new and innovative projects to support our campaigns.

The person in this role will be part of a team transitioning methodologies, testing new strategies, and working with staff and volunteers to execute new ideas. Specific job responsibilities will include digital campaign development and management, designing models for volunteer engagements, and supporting canvass staff development. The Digital Director will regularly interact with directors and other staff to collaborate on messaging, campaign strategy, and organizational best practices.

Major Functions and Responsibilities

Digital Campaign Design and Management - research, design, and test new outreach methods and volunteer models in order to support campaign strategies and tactics at the local, state, and federal levels. This may include building a comprehensive ladder of engagement, launching training programs both online and in person, creating online content, organizing webinars for volunteers, and supporting social media engagement, among other new strategies.
Support Canvass Staff Development - assist the local program and canvass staff in training field organizers in community outreach and volunteer recruitment tactics. Regularly interface with field staff to support their engagement in the campaign beyond field canvassing.
Support Community Engagement - Support local program and canvass staff efforts to engage supporters to participate in volunteer efforts such as reaching out to others in the community, participating in public meetings or demonstrations. Assist with recruiting and training local activists to develop leadership, public speaking, advocacy and organizing skills for area residents.
Coalition Participation - Participate with allies and volunteers in coalitions on shared campaign objectives. Actively engage in meetings and volunteer to initiate and complete projects and tasks. Maintain active relationships with external partners to help leverage more power.
Fundraising - Help the organization raise money by participating in scheduled statewide and regional fundraising events (such as Amplify Austin, North Texas Giving Day, and end-of-year fundraising). Support the development of new ideas for raising money for the organization.
External Communications - Collaborate with allies and TCE Fund staff to execute traditional and social media strategies to build power and shape the public narrative on our campaigns.

Personal Characteristics

Five or more years of relevant experience in digital organizing and/or program management. Preferred experience in environmental and/or social justice work.
A commitment to advancing the overarching goal of environmental justice, with an understanding of the range of current challenges and opportunities.
An energetic person who can handle and prioritize multiple activities and responsibilities; a self-starter and finisher.
A team player who inspires collaboration and operates decisively; is flexible and well-organized.
Strong critical thinker and strategic planner.
Emotionally mature and self-confident.
Available to travel throughout the state with occasional trips out of state.
Experience in Texas is strongly preferred.

Compensation
Annual salary range $56,000-70,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits package includes insurance coverage (medical/dental/vision, including an HSA account with employer contribution), paid time off and flex/comp time, paid holidays, retirement plan with employer matching contribution, and transportation benefit.

Location
Near major city in Texas (occasional travel may be required in the future)
